Renowned cinematographer Afzal Chowdhury, behind the timeless cinematic classic "Jibon Theke Neya" has passed away. He breathed his last on Thursday (31st August) while undergoing treatment at the capital’s United Hospital. He was 92 years old.

According to his family members, he had been suffering from old-age complications for a long time.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of veteran cinematographer Afzal Chowdhury.

In the separate condolence message, they prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Born in Sirajganj in 1931, Afzal Chowdhury was fond of photography from an early age.

He shot many cinemas in Dhaka under the direction of renowned novelist, writer and filmmaker Zahir Raihan and many others. Afzal Chowdhury is known for “Jaltey Suraj Ke Nichey” (1971), “Nirmom” (1996) and “Do Sathi” (1975).
