The nation will observe the 82nd death anniversary of great poet Rabindranath Tagore on Sunday with elaborate programmes. Born on May 7, 1861 at Jorashako in Kolkata, Rabindranath Tagore was fountainhead of Bengali wisdom. On the Baishey Sraban Sundau, it is Tagore’s 82nd death anniversary.
For Bangladesh, Rabindranath holds special significance. His poems and his songs had inspired the nation in its most difficult years and the country had taken one of his songs ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ (My Golden Bengal) as it’s National Anthem.
Cultural arena of the country is all set to observe the day through holding elaborate programmes.
Satellite television channels and radio stations will also air an array of programmes to pay homage to the legend of Bengali literature.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a cultural programme titled ‘Shilper Aloy Shrodhanjali- Rabindranth O Bangbandhu’ today at 6.30 pm at the academy’s National Music and Dance Centre auditorium.
Cultural organization Chhayanaut is organising an array of programme featuring dance, songs and discussion at its Auditorium today at 7pm.
Marking the day, Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha arranged a cultural programme at the Music and Dance auditorium of BSA on August 4.
To observe the day, BTV will air a special music show ‘Tobu Ononto Jage’ today at 3:10pm, while recitation programme ‘Tumi Robe Nirobe Hridoye Momo’ will be aired today at 1:05pm on BTV.
Channel i will air a set of programmes all along the day. A special morning show titled ‘Sorasori Rabindranath’ featuring songs, poems, recitation and discussion, will be aired at 11:05 am while directed by Mahbuba Islam Sumi, film ‘Tumi Robe Nirobe’ will be aired at 3:05 pm.
