December 16 marked the 53rd Victory Day of the country. Paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to liberate the country from the clutches of Pakistan occupation force in 1971, different socio-cultural organisations across the country celebrate the day on Saturday through special programmes and performances.

To celebrated the 53rd Victory Day, National Museum has arranged a 15-day exhibition titled ‘Bangabandhu, Muktijuddha O Bijoy’ at the Museum’s Nalini Kanta Bhattashali Auditorium. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the exhibition on Saturday as Chief guest. 171 illustrations, more than hundred photographs and 28 paintings of London expatriate painter SM Asad have been put on display in the exhibition. The exhibition will remain open to all until December 31.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) celebrated the occasion through discussion, recitation, plays, music and dance performances, held at The National Martyrs' Memorial and at the academy’s National Theatre Hall.

Cultural organisation ‘Sammilita Sangskritik Jote’ celebrated the day through programme ‘Bijay Utsab 2023’ at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital. The programme features music shows, plays, dance recitals, solo and group recitations, performances of children’s organisations and others.

Marking the occasion, Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad also arranged a two-day cultural programme featuring music, dance performance, recitation and others at the Shoparjito Shadhinota Chattar in Dhaka University campus on December 15 and 16.

Also, Channel i arranged a daylong fair ‘Healthcare-Channel i Bijoy Mela 2023’ on the channel’s premises in the Tejgaon area on Saturday. The 7th Victory Day festival feature music, short drama, poetry recitation, drawing and commemorative meeting.
