Curtain falls on 16th Classical Music and Dance Festival

Curtain fell on the 16th edition of “Classical Music and Dance Festival” at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

To practice pure music and promote classical music and dance in Bangladesh and encourage the artists of the new generation, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organised the 6-day festival with the support of its Music, Dance, and Recital Department.

At the beginning of the programme, the chorus classical music “Kheyal” by the classical music course trainees of BSA was performed. Imamur Rashid directed the music.

Then the group dance "Manipuri Laima" was presented. Academy for Manipuri Culture and Arts, Sylhet performed the dance under the direction of Shantona Devi.

Then Antara Mandal performed a solo music raga: Madhubanti. A single "Dhrupad" was performed by AKM Kaushik Ahmed and Pakhawaj was played by Ferdous Hasan.

Then classical dance “Bharatanatyam” was performed. The dance was directed and performed by Zuairiyah Mouli.

Then Sheikh Abidur Rahman Kochi performed a solo classical dance. He performed Kathak, a dance performance on Shiv Bandana, and finally presented Tarana. Then FM Rezwan Ali performed an original raga.

After that, the dance group Bhabna performed the dance "Manipuri" led by Samia Hossain Prema. The dance is composed by Guru Bipin Singh and Guru Shrimati Kalavati Devi and the music is sung by Guru Shrimati Kalavati Devi. Dance group Bhabna performed, and Samina Hossain Prema directed the dance.

Farzana Yasmin then performed a solo Odissi dance "Mokshya". Then Kalpataru performed group dance Bharatanatyam.

Finally, the Shishu Kishore Sangeet Troupe of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy performed Raga.
