The six-day dance festival titled ‘Ganajagoroner Nrittya Utsab’ ended on Friday evening on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. As part of year year-long programme to celebrate 50 years of BSA, BSA organised the festival to promote dance practice.

The closing ceremony of the festival was held on Friday at the Academy's National Theater Auditorium, with mesmerising performance by 16 dance troupes.

At the closing ceremony, BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky said, “We have to make awareness not only in my country but all over the world. Bangabandhu said - not only Bangladesh but all over the world, where the nation is oppressed, Bangladesh will stand by its side. So this artistic movement of mass awakening will continue.”

During the six-day festival, 67 local dance troupes from across the country and four troupes from the United States participated.

The BSA dance group performed the dance-drama ‘Misra Chhander Raag Malika’ at the beginning of the closing day. The choreography was directed by Saju Ahmed, and Liaquat Ali Lucky was in the main idea and planning. After that dance troupe Bhabna danced to the title 'Dhanya Sei Purush', directed by Samina Hossain Prema. A choreography titled ‘Prakriti Nijer Kotha Bole’ was performed. Dance troupe Kathyakia- The Center of Arts performed a choreography 'Prachanda Gorjon' choreographed by SM Hasan Ishtiaq. The dance troupe – Deeksha performed a dance titled ‘Sohagpurer Smritykotha’.

Then Pallabi Dance Theatre performed a dance choreographed by Minu Haque. After that, the Kathuk dance group performed dance–drama ‘Narir Muktijuddho’. Saju Ahmed choreographed the performance.

Kaya Ashram dance troupe performed 'Antardesh' choreographed by Amit Chowdhury. Then the dance troupe - Dhriti Nartanalaya performed 'Jayer Alakbartika' directed by Warda Rehab. Trina Mazumder directed 'Prakritir Bondona' performed by dance group Trishul, while dance troupe T Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre performed 'Chiyanobboi-96' directed by Pooja Sengupta.

Dance troupe Avinaya performed 'Ami Bonoful Go' directed by Hena Hossain, while the dance troupe Swapnachura Cultural Academy performed a dance titled 'Kothakoli Attaaktha, Uttara Swayamborom', Jago Art Center performed dance directed by Belayet Hossain Khan, Spandan performed ‘Surjadoyer pothe’ and Pushpanjali Dance Center performed 'Nari Shakti' directed by Kasturi Mukherjee.

The programme came to an end with the performance of ‘Rudrani choreographed by Deepa Sarkar.
