In a recent announcement, the British Academy has revealed that renowned Scottish actor David Tennant is set to host this year's EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony.

The event will take place at the prestigious Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London on February 18. This marks Tennant's inaugural stint as the host for the esteemed honors ceremony.

Scheduled for midday on Friday, London time, BAFTA will unveil the longlists for the awards, with the final nominations set to be disclosed on January 18 through a livestream featuring Naomi Ackie and Kingsley Ben-Adir. The BAFTA awards ceremony itself will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC streamer iPlayer.

David Tennant, known for his versatile career in film, television, and radio, including iconic roles in "Doctor Who," "Good Omens," and "Broadchurch," expressed his delight at being chosen as the host.

BAFTA highlighted Tennant's acclaimed performances in various mediums, from theater productions like "Hamlet" to his role in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip expressed excitement about securing Tennant as the host, emphasizing his widespread appeal and describing him as "deservedly beloved by British and international audiences."
