In the upcoming movie ‘Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya’, Deepak Adhikari also known as Dev takes on the iconic role of legendary fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi. The film follows Bakshi's pursuit to unravel the truth behind the perplexing "snake bite deaths" that have been haunting a family residing near a mysterious fort.
“I am conscious of the challenges involved in a project like Byomkesh. I love taking up different types of roles which will challenge me as an actor,” Dev expressed, fully aware of the magnitude of portraying Byomkesh, according to The Indian Express.
Created by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay, Byomkesh Bakshi is an immensely popular character, a truth seeker with 32 intriguing stories written about him between the 1930s and '60s.
Dev is not the first to take on this enigmatic character, with other talented actors like Abir Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta, and Parambrata Chatterjee portraying Byomkesh in recent years. Interestingly, both Abir and Parambrata have also brilliantly portrayed the beloved detective Feluda, created by the maestro Satyajit Ray.
When asked about competing with these contemporaries, Dev confidently shared, "I don't see them as my competition. I am my own competitor. Each role I take up in every film is a chance to add a new dimension to my craft." With such passion and dedication, Dev is set to bring a fresh perspective to this iconic character.
Stepping into the role of Byomkesh's wife Satyabati is the talented Rukmini Maitra, while Ambarish Mukherjee portrays his trusted companion, Ajit. Directed by Birsa Dasgupta, ‘Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya’ promises to be an enthralling cinematic experience that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
For Dev, the challenge doesn't end with acting; he's also one of the producers of the film. Embracing the risk, he shared, “I love taking challenges, and being both the actor and producer is an exciting journey for me.”
