Bangladesh Film Artistes Association (BFAA) is gearing up for its 2024-25 biennial election with some intriguing twists. Scheduled for April 19, the electoral arena is poised to witness a face-off between various contenders within the artistic community.

This time around, an interesting dynamic has emerged within the panel, as Monowar Hossain Dipjol and Misha Sawdagor have formed an alliance. Both renowned figures in the Bangladeshi film industry will be contesting from the same panel, with Misha vying for the position of panel president, while Dipjol assumes the role of general secretary.

Confirming their candidacy, actor Dipjol expressed, "We are currently in discussions among ourselves. Nothing is finalised yet. We will soon organise a press conference after forming the panel."

Dipjol currently serves as the vice president in the present committee of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association. Moreover, Misha Sawdagor, who has held the position of panel president twice before, also contested in the last election but faced defeat.

In a symbolic gesture of unity, actress Misha recently posted a picture on Facebook, showing him and Dipjol clasping hands, accompanied by a caption advocating for inclusivity within the artistic community.

Meanwhile, the incumbent president, Ilias Kanchan, has made it clear that he will not be contesting in the upcoming election, leaving the position of panel president up for grabs. Consequently, the search is on for a capable successor, with the general secretary, Nipun Akter, currently occupied with the responsibilities of the presidency.

Regarding the election process, the chief commissioner and the appellate division have been finalised. Khurshed Alam Khosru will serve as the chief commissioner, accompanied by board members A. J. Rana and Mohammad Nishad.
