In a turn of events, Monowar Hossain Dipjol has reclaimed his position as General Secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association (BFAA). A chamber court judge lifted the suspension on his duties on Monday, allowing him to resume his role.
Dipjol had filed an application with the court on Sunday, seeking reinstatement after the High Court suspended his position on May 20. The earlier suspension stemmed from allegations of irregularities and vote rigging in the BFAA elections held on April 19th.
The initial writ petition challenging the election results was filed by Nipun, a defeated candidate for General Secretary. The High Court had ordered an inquiry into the allegations while putting Dipjol's position on hold.
This latest development reinstates Dipjol, who secured the General Secretary position alongside Misha Sawdagor's victory for President in the April elections. The future of the inquiry into the alleged electoral malpractice remains to be seen.
