Bangladeshi film actor Monowar Hossain Dipjol, who has always been against the import of Hindi films, has now changed his stance. He now supports importing Hindi films to save cinema halls in the country.

Dipjol, who is also the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association (BFAA), expressed his new opinion at the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Film Exhibitors' Association held in Dhaka on Saturday.

"I always think about our film industry," Dipjol said. "It is true that Hindi films are harmful to our industry. But now we have to save the cinema halls too. For that, I agree with all of you for now, let Hindi films come in. At the same time, there is no alternative to making good quality films of our own."

The actor said that 500 screens, including Cineplex, are needed to save the industry. He has already taken some steps in this regard. A multiplex will be opened in the Hemayetpur Multi-storeyed Building.

"The 'Parbat' cinema hall has already been demolished," he said. "There will be three screens there. There are also plans to open a multiplex in two years. I hope that if we all make good films in the country, the number of cinema halls will also increase gradually."
