Singer Dola Rahman grabbed the attention of the audience by stirring them with her powerful vocal and stellar performance in her latest music video ‘Ami Dola’ which was released from TM Records at the end of December last year.
Shot in Mumbai on choreography by Bollywood’s Adil Shaikh, the music video shows the singer nailing a never-seen-before appearance by grooving stunningly. She turned all eyes to her, by her singing and her moves in the party song.
In a conversation with The Business Post on Tuesday, Dola said that the extent of response ‘Ami Dola’ has brought to her is just “tremendous”. “Words would fall short to describe about the amount of appreciation I am getting from everyone for this song,” she said.
‘Ami Dola’, with its lyrics, composition and music done by Kaushik Hossain Taposh, is one of the very first songs produced by the newly launched record label TM Records.
Sharing her experience on working in ‘Ami Dola’, Dola said, “This came out as a very different work from my previous ones. Previously I would work in my style of a classical Gharana artist. But, for ‘Ami Dola’ I had to take everything to a reverse angle”.
The singer added, “When we see international vocalists, they themselves are performers. They perform in their own songs, unlike in Asia. I had a dream to prove that in Bangladesh we can also perform our own songs similarly. From that aspect, we have tried it from TM Records with the efforts by Kaushik Hossain Taposh and Farzana Munny (TM Records Chairperson) and people are warmly accepting it.”
Dola, who has songs like ‘Jani Tumi Chile’, ‘Mon Doriya’, ‘Jochona’, ‘Tumi Chara’, ‘Dujone Dujonar’ to her credit, said, “My efforts are always on to interact with the audiences. Currently, I am working on few new projects which I will talk about later. Apart from that, I have done the title track of Iftakhar Chowdhury’s upcoming film ‘Mukti’. It is one of my favourite works. It is expected to come out very soon”.
Dola shared that she strives to learn more and more about music. “Personally speaking, there is no end to learning. My goal is to learn and know more about music. I want to reach such a point when I can feel that I have learnt at least something about music. Secondly, my aim is to take Bangladeshi music to the international stage so that the entire world know about the height and quality of Bangladeshi music,” she said further.
