Dolphin emulator Steam release delayed indefinitely

After revealing that the Dolphin emulator would be coming to the Steam platform back in March 2023, the team announced that they will postpone the release to an undisclosed date.

This announcement stems from the fact that Nintendo has issued a DMCA to Valve over violating their intellectual property rights. As of the time of writing, the Steam page for the emulator has since been removed, reports Noisy Pixel.

You can view the full announcement from their blog below -

“It is with much disappointment that we have to announce that the Dolphin on Steam release has been indefinitely postponed.

We were notified by Valve that Nintendo has issued a DMCA against Dolphin’s Steam page, and have removed Dolphin from Steam until the matter is settled. We are currently investigating our options and will have a more in-depth response in the near future.

We appreciate your patience in the meantime.”

Unfortunately, while the emulator itself is not illegal, Nintendo was never one to take lightly whenever it comes to the emulation scene, and this isn’t even the first time they’ve taken action against it. You can still download the Dolphin emulator from the official website.
