Renowned rapper Eminem has unveiled his upcoming 12th studio album, titled "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)," slated for a summer 2024 release.

The announcement came just before Eminem's appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft. A cryptic trailer for the album surfaced online shortly after, featuring a crime reporter investigating the demise of Eminem's infamous alter ego, Slim Shady.

The trailer portrays Slim Shady as a complex and controversial figure, known for his aggressive wordplay and "anti-hero" persona.  Eminem's long-time collaborator 50 Cent makes a brief appearance, further emphasising Shady's volatile nature.

The reporter in the trailer suggests that Slim Shady's signature controversial lyrics and antics may have ultimately led to his downfall, with Eminem himself offering a melancholic reflection: "I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim."

This announcement comes four years after Eminem's surprise release of "Music to Be Murdered By" in 2020. The album achieved critical and commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and featuring the hit single "Godzilla" with Juice Wrld.

Slim Shady, introduced in 1997's "Slim Shady EP," has been a mainstay of Eminem's career. The character often served as a vessel for the rapper's more aggressive and violent content, contributing to his early reputation as a controversial figure. Tracks like "Guilty Conscience", "'97 Bonnie and Clyde" and even the aptly titled "Kill You" all prominently feature Slim Shady.

With the upcoming release of "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace)," it remains to be seen if this marks a true farewell to Eminem's infamous persona or simply a new chapter in his ever-evolving story.
