Renowned Nazrul Sangeet artiste Ferdous Ara will have a busy schedule performing in Bangladesh and India on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Bangladesh's national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on May 25.

Recently she performed a solo concert at the Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Milonayaton in the National Museum in Dhaka on May 21 at 5 pm. The event was organised to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kazi Nazrul Institute, Khairul Anam Shakil and Executive Director of Kazi Nazrul Institute, AFM Hayatullah, were present as guests of honour at the event.

On May 25, Ferdous Ara will also perform at a special event organised by the Ministry of Culture at 4 pm. In the evening of the same day, she will perform at a special event organised by the Indian Embassy in Sreepur, Gazipur.

The next day, she will leave for Asansol, West Bengal. There, she will perform solo on the second day of the five-day festival at Kazi Nazrul University on May 26.

Ferdous Ara said that she will then perform Nazrul Sangeet in Assam, India and Calgary, Canada in July and September respectively to mark Nazrul's birth anniversary.

Ferdous Ara always has such a busy schedule during Nazrul's birth and death anniversaries both at home and abroad.

Speaking about her busy schedule this time, Ferdous Ara said, "After years of practising Nazrul, I repeatedly feel that this poet, inspired by spiritual consciousness, has written so much about humanity, about people, in the moments of his days. There is no other writer in the world who has written so much and that too in just 22 years and three months.”

“I have not yet had the opportunity to know much about the ocean of his knowledge. I always feel that there is still a lot to learn about him, about his writings. I don't know if I can know everything about him in this life. With utmost respect and love for the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, I try to fulfil my responsibilities and my work properly," she added.
