Ferdousi Majumdar returns to theatre with ‘Dhusor’

Ferdousi Majumdar, a renowned Bangladeshi stage actress, is all set to perform in the new year's first stage drama "Dhusor" today.

The legendary actress, who is also well-known for her work in television dramas and films, has always had a special connection with the stage. Despite not appearing regularly in TV dramas and films, she always prioritises theatre and acts in stage dramas whenever she gets the opportunity.

The drama "Dhusor" is part of the play series "Ekguchho Golpo," which also includes five other plays, namely "Porichoy," "Swajati," "Lukochuri," "Somoy," and "Nirbhoy." The plays have been directed by Tropa Majumdar, Azad Abul Kalam, and Pantha Shahriar and will be staged in two sessions at the Nilima Ibrahim Hall of Bangladesh Mahila Samiti on Bailey Road, Dhaka.

Ferdousi Majumdar expressed her love for the stage, saying, "My profound affection for the stage has always been unwavering. The stage holds my truest passion, and I've steadfastly dedicated myself to it, leaving behind numerous projects to prioritize theatrical endeavours. Currently, I am actively involved in the production "Dhusor" as part of "Ekguchho Golpo," having dedicated myself to rehearsals on January 10 and 11. The thrill of standing on the stage and performing is unparalleled."

She also thanked everyone involved in "Ekguchho Golpo" and wished them all the best.

Ferdousi Majumdar's daughter, actress and director Tropa Majumdar, confirmed the news of the play's staging and shared that tickets for "Ekguchho Golpo" would be available at the venue from this afternoon. The ticket prices range from 200 to 500 taka.

Ferdousi Majumdar has recently acted in the film "Agontuk" by Biplob Sarkar, which was screened at the 28th edition of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea, in October 2021. The film, which received a grant from the Government of Bangladesh in 2019-2020, has been praised by critics and audiences alike.
