The results of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 were finally declared on June 4 by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- led NDA alliance attained a majority with 293 seats while the Congress Party-led INDI Alliance got 234 seats in the polls. Several film celebrities contested in this General Elections and a large section of them emerged as winners as well. Below is the list of those film celebrities who will be serving their constituencies as they have now reached the Parliament.
Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut stepped into the political limelight by contesting on BJP's ticket from her hometown Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. In a remarkable debut, she emerged victorious, triumphing over Congress' Vikramaditya Singh with a substantial margin of 74,755 votes.
Hema Malini
The 'Dream Girl' of Indian cinema, Hema Malini, exhibited her political prowess by winning the Mathura constituency for the third consecutive time. Her victory, with a staggering margin of 2,93,407 votes, is a testament to her enduring popularity and the affection of her constituents.
Arun Govil
Arun Govil, best known for playing Lord Ram in TV's Ramayana, won the Meerut constituency with 546,469 votes. Actor turned politician won against SP's Sunita Vema despite a tough contest. Arun Govil defeated SP's Sunita Verma with a margin of 10,585 votes. Sunita Verma secured 5,35,884 votes, while Devvrat Tyagi- 87,025 votes.
Rachna Banerjee
Trinamool Congress's (TMC) Rachna Banerjee defeated BJP's Locket Chatterjee by over 60,000 votes from the Hooghly seat. Both Bengali industry veterans locked horns for the seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Rachana won the constituency seat with over 60,000 votes.
Satabti Roy
Trinamool Congress's Satabti Roy won the Birbhum seat by 197650 votes. The actor turned politician defeated BJP's Debtanu Bhattacharya who secured 520311 votes while Roy won with 717961 votes. This also marks the actor-politician's fourth term as MP.
Shatrughan Sinha
Shatrughan Sinha won the Asansol seat with over 59564 votes and defeated Surinderjeet Singh Ahluwalia of BJP. In an interview with Zoom Sinha opened up about his victory and said, "It is the tirumph of honesty over dishonesty. Yeh sachchai kee jeet hai. We have a tradition in cinema of truth conquering lies. That applies to life and politics."
Other Bengali actors
The battleground extended to the Bengali film industry, with actors like Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Kishan, Suresh Gopi, Dev Adhikary, Hiran Chatterjee, Locket Chatterjee, and June Malia in the political arena.
