After 12 years of research and preparation, Bangladeshi filmmaker Giasuddin Selim's much-anticipated film “Kajol Rekha” is finally set to release this Eid.

The film, which is based on a 400-year-old folk tale from Mymensingh, is said to be Selim's most expensive film to date. It stars Shariful Razz, Mondira Chakroborty, Irrfan Sajjad, Sadia Ayman, Abul Hayat, Mithila, Iresh Zaker, Shahana Sumi, and Sujoy.

In this regard, a press conference was held on Saturday night at a five-star hotel in the capital city, where the artisans of “Kajol Rekha” were gathered by the producer. It was announced that the movie will be released not only in Bangladesh but also in neighbouring West Bengal, America, Canada and Australia.

Giasuddin Selim mentioned that creating “Kajol Rekha” was a significant challenge due to the need for proper coordination in every sector, including casting and technical aspects. He stated, "Each sector had to be interconnected like beads in a necklace. We faced and overcame challenges step by step."

He emphasised that the entertainment of the contemporary audience remains relevant, and therefore, he believes the audience will appreciate the film. With several films set to be released during Eid, the competition for quality work is promising, and the audience will ultimately decide the worth of a movie.

"The auspicious time for the release of ‘Kajol Rekha’ is during the festive season. We are getting Eid and Pohela Boishakh together, so I believe this is the perfect time for the movie to be released," Selim added. He also mentioned that everything from film production to release poses a challenge and invited everyone to witness the outcome.

The press conference for this movie, which is made based on a 400-year-old folklore of Mymensingh, showcased the excitement of the filmmakers. Shariful Razz, Mondira Chakroborty, and Sadia Ayman invited the audience to witness a different form of “Kajol Rekha” during Eid through over 20 songs crafted for the film.

The shooting of “Kajol Rekha” has been completed in various locations across the country over the past two years, including Netrakona's Durgapur, Khulna's Sundarbans, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet's Haor, and Mirpur in the capital city.

With the involvement of new talents and over a hundred artisans, this film has also integrated VFX and technical aspects from renowned studios in Dhaka and Kolkata.
