Dhallywood star Mahiya Mahi feels blessed to be able to turn another year older. She found her to be the ‘luckiest girl in the world’ as she celebrated her 29th birthday on Wednesday.
Mahi said that she usually doesn’t celebrate her birthday, but she was taken by surprise this time when she was taken to a lovely birthday party by her husband midnight past Tuesday.
It was her first birthday after she tied the knot with Kamruzzaman Sarker Rakib, a politician and businessman from Gazipur, on September 13 this year.
Mahi attended the birthday celebration along with husband Rakib at a cafe on Purbachal Expressway near Khilkhet and it was streamed live on Facebook.
“Thank you so much, who are wishing me. I am overwhelmed today. I usually don’t celebrate my birthday. I am surprised. I wasn’t even aware about this party before,” said Mahi.
The actress also released a number of sky lanterns during the celebrations.
“I am surprised for all these lovely surprises. All of my favourite people have gathered here. I am very happy today,” she said.
On the day, her fans, friends and colleagues from the film industry also shared lovely wishes for her.
Actor Mamnun Hasan Emon shared a photo with Mahi and director Shaheen Sumon, director of Mahi’s first film in Dhallywood ten years ago.
Recently, Mahi reunited with Sumon for a web series titled ‘Mafia’ co-starring Emon.
Director Mustafizur Rahman Manik posted several behind-the-scenes photos from the sets of ‘Ananda Ashru’ and ‘Jannat’ that star Mahi. Earlier this month, they have wrapped up the shooting of their upcoming film ‘Jao Pakhi Bolo Tare’.
“May you be the best of all time. Shine bright,” Manik wished Mahi dubbing her a good artiste and also a good human being. She has all the qualities belonged to a good artiste, he said.
Production house Jaaz Multimedia who produced Mahi’s debut film ‘Bhalobashar Rong’ in 2012, wished her sharing a photo of her on their Facebook page.
Director Iftakhar Chowdhury also shared a behind-the-scene photo with Mahi to wish the actress on her occasion. “Happy Birthday Agnee,” wrote the director who teamed up with Mahi in the films 'Agnee' and 'Agnee 2,' which brought her fame and success. Mahi would next be seen in Iftakhar Chowdhury’s upcoming web film ‘Driver’ co-starring actor Abdun Noor Sajal.
Having launched her career in Dhallywood with the film ‘Bhalobashar Rong’ in 2012, Mahiya Mahi is considered as one of the most successful actresses in recent years. She acted in films like ‘Poramon’, ‘Bhalobasha Ajkal’, ‘Krishnopokkho’, ‘Romeo Vs Juliet’, ‘Dhaka Attack’, ‘Warning’. She took home the ‘Bachsas Award’ for her performance in the film ‘Bhalobasha Ajkal’ in 2013. In 2020, Mahi co-stars superstar Shakib Khan in Anonno Mamun directed film ‘Nabab LLB’ which is said to be the first ever high-profile Dhallywood film to have released in OTT.
In May this year, Mahi made headlines after she parted ways with Sylhet-based businessman Parvez Mahmud Opu ending up five years of their marriage. Afterwards, she married Rakib in September.
