Md. Jahidul Islam, sub-editor of an esteemed daily English Newspaper of the country, received the BaBhaSi International Film Award on Wednesday. He received the award in the journalist category.
The award ceremony of the tri-nation, Bangladesh-Bharat (India)-Singapore (BaBhaSi), was held at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in the capital on the evening. Noted media personality Shangkor Shawjal graced the occasion as the chief guest while National Award-winning filmmaker Zakir Hossain Raju attended the programme as a special guest.
About the award, Jahid said, “I’m very happy and feel honoured after receiving the award. I’m grateful to the BaBhaSi festival authorities for this honour paid to me. Please keep me in your prayers.”
Hailed from Jashore, Md. Jahidul Islam started his journalistic career with Dainik Samachar (a Bengali daily) in 2010 when he was a student at Dhaka University. Then, he joined ‘The Bangladesh Today’ (An English daily) as a Dhaka University reporter. He is currently working as a sub-editor of the Daily Sun, one of the leading English daily newspapers in Bangladesh.
