In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jason Momoa, renowned for his portrayal of Aquaman, shared his apprehensions about the future of the DC superhero franchise.

While promoting the upcoming release of "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" scheduled for December 22, Momoa addressed speculations that the film might mark his final appearance as the iconic King of Atlantis.

Momoa candidly admitted, "I don’t necessarily want it to be the end… [but] I don’t think it’s really, like, a choice." Despite his genuine appreciation for the role and his love for the ocean, Momoa acknowledged the evolving vision of DC Studios under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who aim to chart a new course for the DC cinematic universe, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility," Momoa remarked about the prospect of reprising his role as Aquaman. However, he acknowledged the current uncertainty, stating, "But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.'"

Expressing his enthusiasm for the character and the cinematic world surrounding Aquaman, Momoa outlined his hopes for the future, saying, "I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time. I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, like there’s a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it."

Having first appeared as Aquaman in 2017’s "Justice League" before headlining his standalone film in 2018, Momoa remains open to the possibility of continuing his journey in the superhero genre.

While Aquaman is not currently part of Gunn and Safran’s DC slate, Momoa expressed his desire to remain within the Warner and DC family, even if it means exploring a different comic book character.

"If there’s a place in their world for me, I would love to be a part of it. This is my home. Warner and DC is definitely my home. So, that’s all I’ll say," Momoa concluded, leaving fans eager to see the future trajectory of both the actor and the beloved DC superhero franchise.
