Veteran actress and politician Jaya Bachchan, nominated for a fifth term in the Rajya Sabha by the Samajwadi Party (SP), has declared a combined wealth of Rs1,578 crore with her husband, Amitabh Bachchan, according to an election affidavit.
The India Today report states that Jaya's personal net worth for 2022-23 stands at Rs163.56 crore, while Amitabh's is significantly higher at Rs273.75 crore. Their combined movable assets are valued at Rs849.11 crore, while immovable assets amount to Rs729.77 crore.
Jaya's bank balance is reported to be Rs10.11 crore, while Amitabh's is Rs120.46 crore. Jaya also owns jewellery worth Rs40.97 crore and a car valued at Rs9.82 lakh, while Amitabh possesses jewellery worth Rs54.77 crore and a fleet of 16 vehicles, including luxury brands like Mercedes and Range Rover, collectively valued at Rs17.66 crore.
The report adds that the couple's wealth originates from various sources. Jaya's income includes endorsements, her MP salary, and professional fees, while Amitabh's earnings stem from interest, rent, dividends, capital gains, and his solar power plant.
Jaya Bachchan has served as an SP member in the Rajya Sabha since 2004.
