K-pop idol Jimin, a member of the globally acclaimed South Korean boy band BTS, has set a new record on the international iTunes charts. Jimin has become the first soloist worldwide to achieve seven songs, reaching No 1 in at least 100 regions.
On Sunday, December 24, Jimin's latest single, "Closer Than This," soared to the top spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in an impressive 106 different regions. This includes major countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Canada, Germany, Brazil, and Australia.
Notably, Jimin's latest triumph is particularly noteworthy as it occurred during the holiday season, where his single went head-to-head with well-established Christmas hits. Despite fierce competition, "Closer Than This" outperformed classics such as Wham's "Last Christmas" on the UK charts and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in the United States.
Jimin's historic feat now positions him as the sole solo artist, irrespective of nationality, to achieve the remarkable milestone of seven songs topping the iTunes charts in over 100 regions globally. His previous chart-topping singles include "Filter," "With You," "VIBE," "Set Me Free Pt. 2," "Like Crazy," and "Angel Pt. 1."
Following this monumental accomplishment, fans flooded social media platforms to express their admiration and congratulations for Jimin's musical prowess. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) acknowledged Jimin's global dominance, stating, "The way he is on top in western charts surpassing western artists is craziness. Jimin is the best."
