Johnny Depp has responded to allegations of verbal abuse levelled against him by his former co-star Lola Glaudini during the filming of the 2001 movie "Blow."
The accusations came to light after an episode of the Powerful Truth Angels podcast, originally aired on January 30, resurfaced on social media. In the podcast, Glaudini recounted an incident where Depp allegedly verbally attacked her on set.
According to Glaudini, during the filming of a scene directed by Ted Demme, she was instructed to laugh while Depp delivered a monologue. However, after complying with the director's instructions, Depp reportedly approached her and aggressively reprimanded her, accusing her of pulling focus and disrupting his performance.
Responding to these claims, a representative for Depp stated to Deadline, "Johnny always prioritises good working relationships with cast and crew, and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time."
Glaudini described the incident as occurring on the first day of filming; emphasizing that she had not previously met Depp. Despite being initially excited to work with him, she alleged that Depp's behaviour left her feeling intimidated.
Depp later approached Glaudini, attributing his outburst to being "really in his head" and staying in character with a Boston accent, which he claimed was affecting him. He expressed a desire to reconcile, to which Glaudini responded affirmatively.
"Blow," directed by Ted Demme, is a biographical crime drama focusing on an American cocaine kingpin and his criminal enterprise. Alongside Depp and Glaudini, the film featured a cast including Penelope Cruz, Franka Potente, Rachel Griffiths, and Paul Reubens.
