Majid Majidi to headline 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival

Renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi is set to visit Dhaka in the new-year. He will be participating in the 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival, as revealed on the festival's official Facebook page.

Accompanied by a caption alongside his photo, it reads, "Greetings from the Dhaka International Film Festival. The 22nd edition will take place from January 20 to January 28, 2024. The theme for this year's festival is 'Good Films, Good Audience, Good Society.'"

Preparations for the festival are underway, with organizers hoping to showcase around 250 films from approximately 75 countries. The festival will feature various sections, including 'Asian Cinema Section', 'Retrospective', 'Tribute', 'Wide Angle', 'Bangladesh Panorama Section', 'Cinema of the World Section', 'Children Films Section', 'Women Filmmakers Section', 'Short and Independent Films Section' and 'Spiritual Films Section.'

The Organizers said, "We are delighted to announce that internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker, producer, and director Majid Majidi will participate in the 22nd Dhaka International Film Festival. He will also conduct a masterclass. Majidi, known for creating magnificent films like 'Children of Heaven', 'Color of Paradise' and 'Baran' has won the hearts of film enthusiasts with his outstanding work. Having a skilled filmmaker like him will be a fantastic experience for all of us."

On January 27, 2024, Majid Majidi will present his film concept at the main venue of Bangladesh National Museum Milonayoton. Bidhan Ribeiro, a film critic from Bangladesh, will be hosting the Master Class session.

The detailed schedule and registration information for the Master Class will soon be announced on the festival's Facebook page, according to IFFD.

Apart from the globally acclaimed "Children of Heaven" Majidi has several other notable films, including "Baran", "The Father", "Song of Sparrows", "The Willow Tree" and "The Messenger of God."
