Ekushey Padak and National Film Award-winning legendary actor, playwright and director Mamunur Rashid is back in the director's chair after 25 years. He is directing a new TV drama series titled “Charan Chhuye Jai".
Shooting of thirty episodes of the drama has already been completed. The series is set to air on Channel i.
About the drama, the veteran artiste said, “The drama revolves around the life and events surrounding a school. Alongside directing, I’m playing the role of a school founder. I have already completed the production of thirty episodes of the drama. I will make it up to 52 episodes. Then I will submit it to Channel i. The drama will be aired on Channel i soon.”
“And in between I’m acting in another serial drama under the direction of Sajin Ahmed Babu. Earlier I acted under Babu’s direction. Babu is a very polite and talented director. I love working in his unit under his guidance.”
Mamunur Rashid is playing a central role in the drama “Ghorer Shotru Bibhishan” directed by Sajin Ahmed Babu. Written by Shafiqur Rahman Shantanu, the drama is being aired on NTV.
Born on February 29, 1948, Mamunur Rashid wrote drama plays in the 1960s. He founded Aranyak in 1972. He served as the chief secretary of the troupe. One of the most notable productions of his group is “Rarang”. “Ebong Biddyasagar” and “Che’r Cycle” are also two popular productions of the troupe.
Rashid performed in television plays “Suprobhat Dhaka”, “Somoy Osomoy”, “Ekhane Nongor” and “Pachar”.
He also has acted in many movies, including “Kitton Khola”, “Adhiar”, “Monpura”, “Mrittika Maya”, “Nekabborer Mohaproyan”, “Rupkothar Golpo”, “Nodi Jon”, “Mayabati”, “Deshantor”, “Alta Banu” and others. He has also performed in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s web series “Ladies & Gentlemen”.
Rashid previously directed Bangladesh's first package drama series “Shilpi” and other popular shows like “Shundori” and “Danob”. He has received numerous accolades, including the National Film Award for his contributions to acting.
