Director Suman Ghosh has confirmed that the film "Kabuliwala" is scheduled for release on Christmas Day, December 25.

The unveiling of the film's poster on Tuesday has generated excitement, featuring veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty in the lead role alongside the renowned child actor Anumegha Kahali as Mini. Ghosh aims to deliver a cinematic masterpiece, drawing inspiration from Rabindranath Tagore's timeless narrative.

The storyline follows Rahmat, played by Mithun Chakraborty, a man in pursuit of a better life, who forms an unexpected bond with Mini, a young Bengali girl, in a distant city far from his homeland, Afghanistan.

The plot unfolds as their friendship grows, evoking memories of Rahmat's daughter left behind. However, a twist of fate takes the narrative in an unforeseen direction, dramatically altering Rahmat's life.

Rabindranath Tagore's classic "Kabuliwala" was originally brought to life on screen in 1965 by the legendary Chobi Biswas, becoming ingrained in the hearts of Bengali audiences. Director Suman Ghosh now takes on the challenge of presenting the timeless tale in a new light, with Mithun Chakraborty stepping into the iconic role.

The cast also includes Sohini Sarkar as Mini's mother and Abir Chattopadhyay as her father. While the actress portraying Mini remains a mystery, the director promises a compelling revelation soon.

Filming commenced on August 1, and Ghosh addresses potential criticism, stating, "There will be comparisons and criticisms, but if you are afraid and retreat, it will not work. For me, 'Kabuliwala' is a relevant story of this time."

Mithun Chakraborty, who previously collaborated with director Suman Ghosh in "Noble Chor," expresses his enthusiasm for the role, saying, "The 'Kabuliwala' story made me very emotional. Sometimes, I find myself in Rahmat's shoes. We spent a lot of time preparing ourselves for the film."

Set against the backdrop of 1965, the film, produced by SVF and Jio Studios, promises to stay true to the original narrative while offering a fresh perspective.
