In a recent development, an arrest warrant has been issued again against popular Bangladeshi singer and Member of Parliament, Momtaz Begum, in Murshidabad, India. The warrant pertains to allegations of breach of contract and extortion in a previous case.

According to reports in Indian media, this is the fourth time Momtaz has faced such charges. She was previously served with arrest warrants on three occasions, but subsequently, the cases were dismissed upon her application to the Calcutta High Court.

In accordance with the court's directive, Momtaz is required to appear before the court in person on September 8th. On August 9th, she was summoned to appear before the Principal Sessions Court in Murshidabad.

A statement issued on August 8th stated that charges would be formally filed against Momtaz in the Magistrate Court. If she fails to appear on the specified date, another arrest warrant will be issued against her.

Subsequently, the singer, through the Bangladesh High Commission, informed the court that she would be attending an event in Canada during the scheduled court date, rendering her unable to be present in court. In light of this, her presence in court will not be possible. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Murshidabad dismissed her application and proceeded with the issuance of the arrest warrant against her.

Reports suggest that Momtaz had signed an agreement with organizer Shakti Sankar Bagchi's organization from 2004 to 2008 to perform in various events in Murshidabad. As per the agreement, Shakti was entitled to her participation in various events. In December 2008, Momtaz allegedly failed to honor an event in Murshidabad, despite receiving an advance payment of 14 lakh taka.

It is worth noting that Momtaz received an advance payment, but did not attend the event as per the agreement. Subsequently, Shakti Shankar filed a case against Momtaz in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Murshidabad, which eventually led to the issuance of the arrest warrant against her.

Earlier, on August 9th, a similar arrest warrant was issued against the singer by the Berhampore Court in West Bengal. On August 16th, Momtaz took to social media platform Facebook to declare the case as baseless and fabricated, claiming that it was an attempt to tarnish her reputation.
