In a significant development, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay's renowned novel "Adarsha Hindu Hotel," originally published in 1940, is poised to make its mark on the screen as an OTT series.

The story delves into the life of Hazari Thakur, an ambitious pice hotel cook, who, against all odds from his co-worker Padma and owner Bechu Chakraborty, strives to open his own establishment.

Talented actor Mosharraf Karimis set to don the role of Hazari Thakur, bringing the character to life with his commendable acting prowess.

Award-winning director Arindam Sil is at the helm of this much-anticipated project, promising an authentic and gripping adaptation. National Award-winner Ananya Chatterjee is in consideration for the pivotal character of Padma, adding further depth to the ensemble cast.

Originally slated to begin production last month, unforeseen circumstances have led to a rescheduling, and the shooting is now scheduled to commence in January of the upcoming year.

The literary gem "Adarsha Hindu Hotel" beautifully narrates the journey of Hazari Thakur, a middle-aged Bengali Brahmin with grand aspirations, as he strives to become a successful entrepreneur. The narrative weaves a tale of triumph over numerous obstacles and challenges.

This isn't the first time the novel has graced the screen. In 1957, director Ardhendu Sen brought it to life in a film adaptation, featuring stellar performances by Chhabi Biswas, Dhiraj Bhattacharya, Sabitri Chatterjee, Jahar Ganguly, and more. Additionally, Manoj Mitra portrayed the indomitable Hajari Thakur in Raja Sen's television adaptation aired on "Doordarshan."

The OTT platform Friday, under the auspices of Camellia Productions, is poised for its launch, promising a diverse range of projects, including Kamaleswar Mukherjee’s "Gana Debota."

Meanwhile, Arindam Sil’s "Jongole Mitin Mashi," starring Koel Mallick in the lead, is slated for release during Durga Puja, marking the second chapter in Suchitra Bhattacharya’s celebrated detective character, Mitin Mashi.
