Theatre troupe Natyam Repertory will stage the 25th show of its play ‘Dear Liar’ today at Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bgicha in the capital.

Written by American actor-playwright Jerome Kilty, the drama has been translated into Bangla by Professor Abdus Selim. Directed by by Irin Pervin Lopa, the play gives the audience a glimpse into the longtime correspondence between British playwright George Bernard Shaw and British actress Patrick Campbell.

Dear Liar is a testimony of the significance of letters in literature. The play progresses through the reading of letters that were exchanged between Bernard Shaw and Patrick Campbell. The letters not only portray romantic conversations between two people, rather goes on to describe their struggles in the then war torn Europe.

Campbell married another man leaving Shaw in shock and pain. Still, they exchanged letters, which became a source of energy for them at times of distress and decaying physical strength.

In the play, actor-director Ataur Rahman will play the role of George Bernard Shaw while actress Aupee Karim will play the role of Patrick Campbell.
