NewJeans, the latest sensation under Hybe Corporation, is making waves on the global music scene, surpassing even established K-pop icons.
The five-member girl group - Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein - is emerging as a dominant force in the 4th generation of K-pop, outpacing trendsetters with their record-breaking success on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
The powerhouse quintet has now outshone BTS's Jungkook, as revealed by Apple Music's year-end chart. Three of NewJeans' tracks have secured coveted positions in the top 100, overshadowing Jungkook's digital single "Seven feat Latto," which secured the 48th spot. NewJeans' tracks "Ditto," "OMG," and "Hype Boy" claimed impressive positions at 19th, 37th, and 64th, respectively, according to Hindustan Times.
Apple Music also provided insights into the global popularity of Korean music, where NewJeans continues to dominate. Apart from their three hits, "Attention" has clinched the 5th spot, showcasing the group's widespread appeal. The chart also features LE SSERAFIM's "ANTIFRAGILE" at 6th place and IU's "I AM" securing the 4th position.
Under the management of Hybe's subsidiary ADOR, NewJeans made history by becoming the first K-pop girl group to win a Billboard Music Award (BBMA) in the year following their debut.
