The 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed Tuesday. To mark the day, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) premiered director Goutam Koiri’s short film ‘Bangamata’, based on the life of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib on Sunday evening.

Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Cultural Affairs Simin Hossain Rimi inaugurated the show. Presided over by Cultural Affairs Secretary Khalil Ahmed, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid attended the show as the chief guest, while Senior Secretary for Energy and Mineral Resources Division Md Mahbub Hossain was present as a special guest.

KM Khalid said, “The noble woman Bangamata was always by Bangabandhu’s side in happiness and sorrow. Bangabandhu was inspired and encouraged in political movement and struggle for people’s rights. She has manifested in the glory of sacrifice by giving up her happiness throughout her life. It is never possible for a common woman. So no one can touch the glory of Bangmata’s sacrifice.”

Simin Hossain Rimi said, “I have seen the great woman of history that the film is made on. This is the great achievement of my life. She is a very important part of history. Her role and significant contribution to the country needs to be analyzed separately.”

Earlier, the State Minister participated as a special guest in the concluding and award distribution ceremony of the week-long travel fest and photography exhibition organised by Travel Girls-Travelettes of Bangladesh at Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
