Khasru, a name that resonates with bravery and artistry in Bangladesh, embodies the spirit of a nation that has faced adversity with resilience and creativity.

Khasru, acted in the liberation war-themed film 'Ora Egaro Jon' directed by the visionary filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam.

While he has been actively involved in the cinema, his contribution to acting is not confined to the screen. As long as his work had been appreciated, he acted.

Apart from 'Ora Egaro Jon,' Khasru has played notable roles in films such as 'Sangram', 'Nokol Manush', 'Badshah', 'Fande Poriya Boga Kande' and 'Rajar Holo Saja.'

This brave freedom fighter served as a commander in the guerrilla forces in the Dhaka region during the historic Liberation War of 1971. As a member of the Student Action Committee, he participated in the movement by purchasing cloth for flags in the darkness of night, sewing them, and hoisting them during the Dhaka University uprising on March 2 and the Paltan Maidan rally on March 3.

Khasru was the commander of the guerrilla forces in the Dhaka region during the liberation war, and his commitment to the cause was evident when he fired blank shots into the air with a rifle, declaring that the nation would fight upon receiving directives from the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He was among the group of students from the Dhaka University area who personally handed over the flag to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his residence in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

After being released from Pakistani captivity, Khasru actively participated in the cultural arena. He became the protagonist in the first film depicting the Liberation War, 'Ora Egaro Jon.' Khasru played a significant role in the first color film of independent Bangladesh, 'Badshah,' portraying a character with dual shades.

Following the tragic events of August 15, 1975, Khasru has continued to express his dissent openly. In 2022, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Film Awards ceremony. However, he did not personally accept the award.

The esteemed couple of the Bangladeshi film industry, Omar Sani and Moushumi, conveyed their admiration for Khasru, stating, 'Khasru bhai is the pride of our film industry. He directly participated in the great Liberation War to free our country. We are proud of him.'

Expressing gratitude, the couple continued, "Khasru Bhai, our respect for you knows no bounds. You have led a life dedicated to truth and justice. We are truly delighted and proud to acknowledge this great man. Our heartfelt gratitude to the honorable Prime Minister. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Juries Board. May Allah bless and keep Khasru Bhai well."
