The Bangla film industry has witnessed a remarkable commercial success with the release of the highly anticipated movie "Priyotoma", featuring superstar Shakib Khan and directed by Himel Ashraf. The film, which hit the theaters on Eid, has set new records in the history of Bangla cinema by grossing over 27 crore Tk within just one month of its release.
On Monday evening, director Himel Ashraf proudly announced the fourth-week collection of "Priyotoma", which has crossed a staggering 2.35 crore Tk in ticket sales. The movie is currently being screened in 46 cinemas across the country, with a mix of multiplexes and single-screen theaters.
In the first week, the film raked in 10.3 crore Tk from 109 cinema halls, followed by a worldwide collection of 8.55 crore Tk in the second week. The third week saw a substantial growth with a gross collection of 5.75 crore Tk. Notably, in the fourth week alone, the movie earned a remarkable 26.95 crore Tk, solidifying its position as an all-time blockbuster.
Despite being a month into its release, the audience's interest in "Priyotoma" remains unwavering, with daily screenings in all major cinemas. A total of 14 shows per day are being displayed in cineplexes, with 7 shows in blockbuster halls and 4 shows in Lion Cinemas.
Speaking about the film's resounding success, Cineplex marketing manager Mejbah Ahmed said, "Bangla cinema has proven its mettle with the movies released this Eid. Among them, 'Priyotoma' has garnered the highest demand from the audience. The movie is experiencing a houseful response in almost all theaters, even after a month of its release."
Cinema owners and distributors have also echoed similar sentiments, stating that the demand for "Priyotoma" has surpassed that of many Hollywood films. The overwhelming response from the audience has proved that overlooking Bangla cinema is a total misconception. Despite the passage of one month since its release, "Priyotoma" continues to draw audiences to theaters, making it a roaring success for cineplexes nationwide.
