Remembering Nayak Raj Razzak

It is been five years since Nayak Raj Razzak is no more. The sixth death anniversary of the legendary actor and director will be observed today.

To mark the day, many cultural organisations have arranged programmes which include milad mahfil, food distribution among orphans, discussion, and a lot more.

“After the Fajr prayers, I visited my father's grave. There I prayed for this soul and distributed food for the orphans at Gulshan Azad masque. Apart from that, an orphanage is still running, which is after the name of my father. Milad mahfil and food distribution programmes will be held there too," said Razzak's youngest son, Khalid Hossain Samrat.

Apart from that, many artistes especially his co-artistes Shabnam and Babita remembered him on his death anniversary.

Shabnam: He used to address me as madam

In my view, Nayak Raj Razzak was a wonderful artist with a good soul. While I was an actress, he worked in production. He acted briefly in a scene with me in my film 'Akheri Station'. It's not much to mention. But the reason I said it today as an example is because his dream was so big, he wanted to be a hero.

He really became a hero. He became my hero, but he used to address me as madam. Razzak became the king of the heroes of Bangladesh with his talent and hard work. He was a great actor. The movie ‘Nacher Putul’ with him is still very popular with the audience. As well as 'Sandhi', and 'Shorto' are also popular movies. The song 'Ayanate Oi Mukh Dekhbe Jokhon’ from the movie ‘Nacher Putul’ by Rayak Raj also became popular.

Babita: He had to struggle a lot to get the title of Nayak Raj

Razzak Bhai was like my elder brother. After the success of 'Ananta Prem', we acted in several movies together. However, I have acted in several movies including ‘Taka Ana Pai’, ‘Kalo Golap’, Swarolipi’, ‘Slogan’, ‘And Pich Dhala Path’. As a duo, we give many commercially successful films. The audience went to the hall and enjoyed the movie starring me and Razzak bhai. Razzak Bhai was also the guardian of our family.

Razzak Vai first acted with my elder sister Suchanda apa in the film 'Behula'. That movie was produced by Zahir Raihan Bhai but he created buzz as the hero in his first film.

He had to struggle a lot to get the title of Nayak Raj, he had to give many commercially successful movies. He was a very family-loving artist. He was a very talkative person. Whenever he got time, he used to throw parties at home. We used to go there. He used to come forward in danger of any artist. I remembered when he received the Swadhinata Padak. I, Diti, Aruna, Riaz, Sharmili Bhabi, and many others went to meet him. He was very happy. That happy face appears often. I often remember the smile of Razzak Bhai. May Allah grant him Zannat.

Apu Biswas: I have another name which is Lakshmi

I acted with Razzak uncle in my debut film 'Koti Takar Kabin'. He used to love me a lot. I have another name which is Lakshmi. Most people don't know the name, but Razzak uncle knew.

As the name of Razzak uncle's wife is Lakshmi so this was another reason he used to love me a lot. I believe he would have loved my son Joy like he used to love me if he was alive. On his death anniversary, I pray for his departed soul.

Purnima: Razzak Uncle used to love me like his own daughter

I acted with Razzak uncle in Alamgir Kumkum's film ‘Jibon Chabi’ first. After that, I had the good fortune to act in around 20 movies with him.

I also acted in the films 'Santaan Jekhane Shatru' and 'Premer Naam Bedona' under his direction, which was made by his production company. Razzak Uncle used to love me like his own daughter. It was a blessing in my film career to get the opportunity to work with him. It really seems like we lost our guardian. May the Almighty grant him heaven.

Dighi: I learned acting from him when I was a child

I got a chance to act with Razzak uncle. My mother Doyel debuted opposite Razzak uncle. He used to love me a lot.

I acted with him in 'Chacchu Amar Chacchu', 'Ek Takar Bou', 'Piritir Agun Jole Digun', and many more. I learned acting from him when I was a child. I think this will always be a blessing for me. He is the pride of the Bangladeshi film industry. May the Almighty grant him heaven.
