Winner of the Ekushey Padak, renowned dancer and actress Zeenat Barkatullah, passed away on September 20th at 5 PM. Her niece, Naznin Musabbir Ruchi, confirmed this sad news.
Zeenat was the beloved wife of the late Mohammad Barkatullah, a distinguished television personality, and the cherished mother of actress Bijori Barkatullah. Earlier in March, Zeenat was admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka due to complications stemming from a lung infection and internal bleeding in her brain. Tragically, on August 3rd, her husband, Mohammad Barkatullah, succumbed to Covid-19.
For over two decades, Zeenat dedicated herself to the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, serving as a director since 2002. Her artistic journey encompassed an impressive portfolio of approximately 80 television drama plays. She embarked on this path with the drama "Maria Amar Maria" in 1980, subsequently gracing productions like "Ghore Baire", "Osthai Nibas", "Boro Bari", and "Kotha Bola Moyna," leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
