'Saatao' at Russian Film Festival

“Saatao” has been nominated for the ‘19th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival’ which will be held in Russia. The movie was produced by Khandaker Suman with crowd funding.

"Saatao" will be screened in the "Russia-The Islamic World" section of the festival in the city of Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia from September 5 to 9. The festival will be held in cooperation with the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

This year, ten films from nine countries namely Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Russia and Uzbekistan have been nominated in the 'Russia - The Islamic World' category.

Khandaker Suman, director of “Saatao”, said, "I am very happy that my first film has been nominated in such a prestigious festival. I want to add one more to such happy news. The film “Saatao” is coming to the OTT platform very soon.”

"Saatao" is based on the lives of the marginalised community. Aynun Putul and Fazlul Haque play pivotal roles in the movie.

“Saatao” was selected as the best film in the Bangladesh Panorama category at the '21st Dhaka International Film Festival'. The movie was released in the country on January 27. Since last March, the movie has been shown alternately in different districts of the country.

Before this, "Saatao" bagged the Gautam Buddha Award under the World Panorama category at the 6th Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF).
