Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have unveiled the official title and first-look images for their upcoming Jurassic World film. Titled "Jurassic World Rebirth," the movie is set to hit theatres on July 2, 2025.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, "Jurassic World Rebirth" follows an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air. Set five years after the events of "Jurassic World Dominion," the movie depicts a world where the planet’s ecology has become largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The few surviving species exist in isolated equatorial environments that resemble their ancient habitats.
Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert tasked with leading a team on a high-stakes mission to collect genetic material from the three largest remaining dinosaurs. During the mission, Zora’s team encounters a civilian family whose boating trip was disrupted by aggressive aquatic dinosaurs, leaving them stranded on a remote island. Together, they uncover a sinister secret that has been hidden for decades.
Jonathan Bailey stars as palaeontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, while Mahershala Ali plays Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team leader. The cast also includes Rupert Friend as Big Pharma executive Martin Krebs and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, the father of the stranded family. Additional cast members include Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein, according to DEADLINE.
Directed by Gareth Edwards ("Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") and scripted by David Koepp, who penned the original "Jurassic Park," "Jurassic World Rebirth" is based on characters created by Michael Crichton.
Longtime franchise producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are returning, with Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer serving as executive producers.
"Jurassic World Rebirth" marks the fourth film in the Jurassic World series, following a trilogy of box office hits, each of which surpassed $1 billion globally. The most recent entry, "Jurassic World Dominion," was released in June 2022.
