Dhaka's superstar, Shakib Khan, has been making headlines with discussions on his films “Leader: Amie Bangladesh” and “Priyotoma” last year. The superstar is set to grace the silver screen with four upcoming movies this year.
The three confirmed films include “Dard” directed by Anonno Mamun, “Rajkumar” by Himel Ashraf, and “Toofan” directed by Raihan Rafi. Another film, directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, is in the works with its title yet to be finalised.
Planning for the release of 'Dard' in February, the production and distribution companies, SK Movies, One World Movies, and Bangladesh's Action Cut Entertainment and Kibria Films, are collaboratively working across 32 countries.
The psycho-thriller film is likely to be released in six languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, in addition to Bengali with shooting locations spanning several Indian cities, such as Varanasi and Allahabad.
Shakib Khan's co-star in “Dard” is Bollywood actress Sonal Chauhan. The film also features Jessia Islam, Miss World Bangladesh 2017, and an artist from both Dhaka and Kolkata.
Despite the opportunity for local actresses, Shakib Khan has chosen Bollywood actress Courtney Coffey as his co-star in another film, “Rajkumar.” After completing the shooting in India, the director Himel Ashraf's team will travel to the United States for additional action scenes.
Ashraf and Shakib Khan aim to release “Rajkumar” during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. The film is backed by Arshad Adnan's production house, Versatile Media.
Following the Eid festivities, the highly anticipated big-budget film “Toofan,” directed by Raihan Rafi is set to hit theatres.
In a ground-breaking collaboration, three titans of the Bangla entertainment industry, SVF, Chorki and Alpha-i, are joining forces to produce "Toofan", starring Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan.
In a recent programme, Shakib Khan shared his thoughts on the collaboration, saying, "Our journey to the international film market has already begun, and this time the three giants of the film industry have collaborated to take it to another level."
As Shakib Khan prepares for a grand entry on the big screen this year, the audience eagerly awaits the release of these four diverse and promising films in the coming months.
