In a recent turn of events, renowned Dhallywood actor Shakib Khan finds himself embroiled in a heated dispute concerning his compensation for film roles. Despite an initially agreed-upon remuneration, the actor is purportedly demanding additional payment, leading to a standoff with the film producers.

The much-anticipated project "Neel Doriya," helmed by director Badiul Alam, was set to feature Shakib Khan in a pivotal role. However, negotiations regarding the actor's fee took an unexpected twist. Initially, Khan was offered Tk 40 lakh for his contribution to the film.

However, just as preparations for shooting were underway, a sudden change of heart saw Shakib Khan prioritizing another project, "Priyotoma," which garnered considerable success upon its recent Eid release.

Following the triumph of "Priyotoma," Shakib Khan revisited his compensation demands for "Neel Doriya," proposing a staggering Tk 1 crore. This impasse has resulted in a production delay for the film.

Director Badiul Alam elucidated, "Our initial agreement ranged between 35 to 50 lakh BDT. We had already disbursed Tk 40 lakh. Shakib Khan now requests an additional Tk 60 lakh, bringing the total fee to Tk 1 crore, which is against the intial contract."

Regrettably, this standoff has left the fate of "Neel Doriya" hanging in the balance. Director Badiul Alam emphasized that in the current industry landscape, procuring a contract for a new film could cost producers between Tk 1 to 2 crore. However, the commitment with Shakib Khan was initially based on different terms.

In a direct address to the actor, Director Badiul raised a pertinent question, "Had 'Priyotoma' not performed as anticipated, would you have considered returning Tk 20 lakh out of the initial Tk 40 lakh?"

This controversy surrounding Shakib Khan's remuneration has not only put a significant project on hold but also prompted a broader industry conversation on fair compensation and professional ethics.
