In a major announcement for Bangla cinema, OTT giant Chorki, Alpha-i Studios, and Indian production house Shree Venkatesh Films (SVF) have unveiled their partnership on a new film titled "Toofan."
This highly anticipated project brings together acclaimed director Raihan Rafi and Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan for the very first time.
"As I have always stated, there are infinite possibilities for our Bangladeshi movies," said Shakib Khan at the press conference held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Monday. "With almost 30 million Bangla-speaking audiences both domestically and outside, we have an enormous market for our cinema. Rafi is directing the film with whom I am working for the very first time, and three big production companies are collaborating on it. All in all, I'm excited about this movie."
Echoing Khan's excitement, Raihan Rafi shared, "I am thrilled about the movie because this will be my first film with Superstar Shakib Khan, and also because three enormous film entities are teaming up for this film and the previously announced 'Domm'. This will undoubtedly mark a significant milestone for the Bangladeshi film industry."
Building on the excitement surrounding the "Toofan" announcement, Redoan Rony, CEO of Chorki, further elaborated on the project's significance. He stated, "This collaboration between SVF, Chorki, and Alpha-i represents our unwavering commitment to captivating Bengali-speaking audiences and providing them with exceptional international content."
Furthermore, Rony recognized the diverse preferences of audiences, stating, "The variety of choices available to audiences today ensures that both cinema halls and OTT platforms will continue to thrive. Filming for "Toofan" is set to commence shortly, with a theatrical release scheduled for next year's Eid Ul Azha. The collaboration between the acclaimed director and Dhallywood's biggest star has generated significant buzz within the industry, promising a captivating cinematic experience for audiences worldwide.
