An announcement of making a film based on BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia titled “Mother of Democracy” has been made recently. Now it is known that legendary lyricist-producer and director Gazi Mazharul Anwar made a short film about former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia a decade ago, in 2013, titled “Aposheen” (Uncompromising). In the movie, actress Nipun Akhtar played the role of Khaleda Zia, while Helal Khan played the role of the eighth president of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman.

Information about this film was not revealed at that time due to surrounding circumstances. After 11 years, the film is going to see the light of day.

The shooting of the film was completed in December 2013. Helal Khan then quickly completed the post-production work and was ready to submit it to the censor board. He planned to release the film across the country before the 10th Parliamentary election in Bangladesh on January 5, 2014.

However, actor-producer Helal Khan was arrested before this. Because he is the leader of the cultural organization Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas). Jasas is a cultural wing of BNP.

Since then producer Helal Khan has been in jail, and director Gazi Mazharul Anwar could not take any decision regarding the release of the film “Aposheen”.

Gazi Mazharul Anwar died in 2022. It is said that he had many dreams about the film. Helal Khan wants to release the film soon to make that dream a reality. Before that, he wants to meet Begum Khaleda Zia.

Helal Khan said, “Madam is sick. It wouldn't be right to talk about it right now. I will discuss the film with her when she recovers. That will be the decision she takes.”

“11 years have passed and a lot has happened in between. So we have to make some changes and edit some parts. Hopefully, this year I will be able to present the film to the audience”, he added.

Meanwhile, actress Nipun Akter is personally a supporter of the Awami League. Regarding her involvement in the film Nipun Akter said, “One day Gazi Mazharul Anwar's uncle came to my house. He told me about the film. At that time, the shooting of Shah Alam Kiran Bhai's film '71er Ma Janani' was going on. Uncle told me that the film is about the biography of Madam Khaleda Zia. I have to impersonate her. He wanted to know, whether I had objections. I said, as an actress, I should play the role of madam. She is a former Prime Minister. Uncle was very happy that I agreed. He said they thought about Jaya Ahsan and Nusrat Imroz Tisha before me. But it was Gazi uncle who told Helal Bhai that if Nipun acted, she would match Madam's face very well.”

The actress also said that she had studied a lot about Begum Khaleda Zia before shooting. Gazi Mazharul Anwar helped him in this regard.
