A devastating flood sweeping through the eastern part of the country has claimed the lives of 15 people and left nearly 48,69,299 residents stranded in rising waters. The disaster, which has impacted 11 districts, has prompted the deployment of thousands of shelter centres and medical teams to provide urgent relief as of Friday.
At this time, people from all walks of life are trying to help the flood victims as much as possible. In this case, the celebrities are not lagging behind, they also trying to stand by the flood victims as much as possible.
In a video message on Friday (August 23) afternoon, actor and model Siam Ahmed announced to donate two months of his income to the flood victims. At the same time, Siam's wife Shamma Rushafi Abanti is giving her one month's income to the flood victims.
Siam said in the video message, on his verified Facebook page said, “I saw a young child donating his savings of 14,500 Taka to the flood victims. The unity of Bangladeshi people is here, this is our beauty. We have decided to donate the entire income for this month and the previous month. I have already paid some portion, and will pay the rest very soon.”
His wife Abanti, was by his side and agreed with him. Abanti said that she is also doing the same. She said both of them are giving their full month's income to the flood victims of Feni, Noakhali, and Cumilla.
Siam said, "It might not be ideal to mention donations directly but this time mentioning it might inspire others to contribute as well. Everyone should encourage people near him or in the same profession. I am involved in an acting career. Many are capable here. I will tell them, to please donate an amount to the flood victims. Bangladesh needs this support now.”
Siam also noted that he is working with the volunteer organisation ‘Give Bangladesh,’ which he trusts and is familiar with, to aid the flood victims.
Siam’s wife, Abanti, a well-known brand promoter (influencer), stated in the video that she initially planned to take the month off from work. In closing, Abanti urged everyone to come forward and assist those affected by the floods, saying, “I request everyone to stand by those impacted by the floods.”
