Selena Gomez has definitively squashed the buzz surrounding her latest song, "Single Soon." The track, which has sparked speculation about its connection to her past relationship with The Weeknd, has drawn quite the spotlight due to its lyrics.

However, Selena took to Instagram to clarify that the song is not about her breakup with The Weeknd, putting all the rumors to rest.

Fans couldn't help but connect the dots between the song's lines and Selena's brief fling with The Weeknd in 2017. The lines in question go:

“Should I do it on the phone? / Should I leave a little note in the pocket of his coat? (Yeah) / Maybe I'll just disappear / I don't wanna see a tear / And the weekend's almost here.”

Selena's response to the speculation was a straightforward "Couldn't be more false," effectively silencing the rumors.

Although her relationship with The Weeknd was relatively short-lived, Selena's romantic history has been in the limelight due to her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber from 2010 to 2018. Not to mention her one-year romance with Nick Jonas back in 2008, according to Hindustan Times.

"Single Soon" dropped on August 25, accompanied by a music video that captures Selena's declaration of independence. The video shows her leaving a breakup message for her boyfriend and heading out with her friends for a carefree night. The vibe is all about empowerment and making her own choices.

In a recent statement, Selena shared that her music has undergone a transformation since the release of her Apple TV documentary, "Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me."

She expressed that the new music is both powerful and pop-infused, centered around the idea of breaking free from relationships and personal struggles.
