Tangia Zaman Methila will represent Bangladesh in Miss Universe 2020. Hailing from Dhaka, she will be Bangladesh’s second representative in the international beauty pageant, which was formed on June 28, 1952.
Methila is a professional model, a Bollywood actress and an alumna of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in Dhaka. Besting nine other finalists, she was crowned Miss Universe Bangladesh 2020 by Bollywood actress Chitrangda Singh, on April 3, 2021 at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in Dhaka.
Hosted by Quazi Sabir, the coronation ceremony was broadcast on a national television. Singh served as a judge along with Tahsan Khan, Bidya Sinha Saha Mim, Irene Sommer Tilger and Mehruz Munir.
Runner-up to Methila was Farzana Yasmin Ananya, 21. Farzana Akter Ani, 19, was second runner-up.
This is not Methila’s first crown. She was the inaugural Miss Supranational Bangladesh 2019.
However, Methila was not able to represent Bangladesh in Miss Supranational 2019. If she wins Miss Universe 2020, she will be the international beauty pageant’s first winner from her home country.
