Popular Bangladeshi actress Tareen Jahan has taken the Kolkata film industry by storm with her debut performance in the film "Eta Amader Golpo."
The film, directed by Manasi Sinha, was released last Friday and has garnered critical acclaim for Tareen's nuanced portrayal of a Bengali Hindu woman.
Tareen's promotional tour for the film in Kolkata provided her with an opportunity to reconnect with her many fans from Bangladesh who reside in the city. Despite the scorching heat, these dedicated viewers flocked to theatres to witness Tareen's brilliance on the big screen.
The actress is overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and appreciation she has received from Kolkata's audiences. She describes her experience as "a new chapter in life" and is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the Bengali film industry.
"Eta Amader Golpo" revolves around the complex relationship between a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law, exploring themes of love, acceptance, and the challenges faced by older women in society. Tareen's character, a woman who finds love later in life, challenges societal norms and inspires viewers to embrace their emotions regardless of age.
Her performance has not gone unnoticed by her peers in the industry. Bangladeshi actor and parliamentarian Ferdous Ahmed expressed his admiration for her talent and the positive reception she has received in Kolkata.
"It's truly a joy to see the love that Kolkata's audience has shown for Tareen's film," Ahmed said. "It's not easy to win the hearts of audiences in a foreign country, and Tareen has undoubtedly done so with her brilliant performance. I wish her all the best in her future endeavours."
Veteran actress Dilara Zaman, a recipient of the Ekushey Padak, also lauded Tareen, calling her an inspiration to the younger generation of actors.
"Tareen is one of the finest actresses of her generation," Zaman said. "It's heart-warming to see her being recognised and appreciated for her work in Kolkata as well."
