SM Tarek Rahman's "The Midnight Girl," that has recently captured the spotlight, earning him the Best Director award at the 5th Sylhet International Film Festival.

The prestigious accolade was presented by the festival, which received submissions from 3,065 films representing 111 countries. Out of these, Tarek Rahman's "The Midnight Girl" stood out, securing the Best Director award in a ceremony held at Sylhet Agricultural University.

Tangail's native, Tarek has emerged as a distinguished playwright and filmmaker, crafting narratives with a passion rooted in love for good stories. His unconventional approach to scriptwriting sets him apart, as he prioritizes storytelling that resonates with his heart rather than conforming to rigid rules.

With a portfolio boasting 61 television dramas and numerous stage plays, Tarek's journey in the realm of storytelling has been nothing short of remarkable. The recognition at the Sylhet International Film Festival adds another feather to his illustrious cap, reinforcing his commitment to quality storytelling.

In his acceptance speech, Tarek Rahman reflected, "Receiving the Best Director award for a short film has been an immensely fulfilling experience. This acknowledgment amplifies my responsibility to tell better stories. I am truly grateful to Sylhet Agricultural University for honoring my artistic vision and bestowing upon me the title of Best Director. I convey my sincere thanks to everyone associated with this festival."

Notably, Tarek Rahman has garnered widespread acclaim for his theatrical works, with plays like "Life Support", "Onuvobe Tumi", "Ekti Jiboner Golpo", "Gash Foring Er Prem" and "Sei Tumi" becoming audience favorites.
