"The Eminence in Shadow" is a light novel series hailing from Japan, penned by Daisuke Aizawa and brought to life with illustrations by Tōzai. Its online serialization commenced in May 2018 on the user-driven novel platform, Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Subsequently, Enterbrain picked up the series and has been publishing it since November 2018.
Furthermore, a manga adaptation, featuring artwork by Anri Sakano, has been serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's seinen manga magazine, Comp Ace, since December 2018.
In the latest issue of Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine, the concluding chapter of Seta U's manga adaptation, "Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Shadow Gaiden" (The Eminence in Shadow - Shadow Side Story), was published on Tuesday. The upcoming sixth volume is set to be released on October 26.
This spinoff manga is based on Daisuke Aizawa's light novel series, "The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)." Seta U commenced the serialization in the magazine in July 2019.
Aizawa initially shared the story on the "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" (Let's Become Novelists) website in May 2018. Kadokawa brought forth the fifth volume in December. Yen Press handles the English publication and released the fourth volume in June 2022.
The light novels also inspired a separate manga adaptation by Anri Sakano, which debuted in Comp Ace in December 2018. Volume 11 was released by Kadokawa in May. Yen Press is responsible for the English publication of this manga, with Volume 8 slated for release on November 21.
The series has further been adapted into an anime, with the first season premiering in October 2022. The highly anticipated second season is scheduled to debut on October 4.
