Theaterian to stage ' Death of a Salesman' today

The theatre troupe ‘Theaterian’ is going to stage ‘Death of a Salesman’ today at 7:00 pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the capital.

The play is originally written by American playwright Arthur Miller in 1948 and produced in 1949. Ashiqur Rahman Leeon directed the play for the evening.

‘Death of a Salesman’ is the story of dreams of the middle-class that never comes true in the capitalist societies. It is a two-act tragedy set in 1940s New York told through a montage of memories, dreams, and arguments of the protagonist Willy Loman, a travelling salesman who is disappointed with his life, and appears to be slipping into senility.

The audience get to see the hardships faced by Willy, who portrays middle-class Americans, during the conversation that takes place between Willy and his wife in the kitchen.

The play contains a variety of themes, such as the American Dream, the anatomy of truth, and infidelity. It explores the psychological chaos of the protagonist, and the capitalist society’s impact on his life.
