Three Bangladeshi films have secured a spot in the upcoming Third Eye Asian Film Festival scheduled to take place from January 12 to 18, showcasing the nation's diverse cinematic talent.

The 20th edition of the festival will feature “Saatao” directed by Khandaker Sumon, “Nona Pani” by Syeda Neegar Banu, and “Patalghor” by Noor Imran Mithu.

"Saatao" unfolds the poignant narrative of Putul and her cow, both experiencing pregnancies simultaneously. Despite the loss of her own child and the cow's demise post-childbirth, Putul finds solace and renewed motherhood in an orphaned calf named Lalu. Aynun Putul and Fazlul Haque play the lead roles in this portrayal of the challenging life of a farmer and the universal embodiment of motherhood in women.

"Patalghor" delves into the psychological tension between a mother and daughter, featuring a notable cast including Afsana Mimi, Nusraat Faria, Mamunur Rashid, and others. The film, currently available on Chorki, showcases Nusraat Faria in an unglamorous appearance.

Crafted around characters from a village in Khulna's southern region, "Nona Pani" features Bilkis Banu Jaba, Kazi Rakibul Haque, Jayita Mahalanobish, and Jayanto Chattopadhay, among others. The film is set to premiere in Bangladesh at the National Museum's main auditorium on January 26 at 7pm.

During the festival's opening day, “Saatao” and “Nona Pani” will be screened at the Thakur College of Science and Commerce, Kandivali East, Mumbai, while “Patalghor” will be showcased at the Citylight Cinema in Mahim on January 14. Film enthusiasts can look forward to a week of engaging narratives and cultural exchange at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival.
