In a shocking turn of events, Homayra Himu, a prominent figure in Bangladesh's television industry, was found deceased at her residence on Thursday.

She was rushed to Uttara Bangladesh Medical College in the capital, where attending medical professionals confirmed her passing. Actors Equity Guild President and actor Ahsan Habib Nasim provided the somber confirmation.

While awaiting official confirmation, preliminary information strongly indicates that the actress took her own life. Further details regarding her postmortem examination and funeral arrangements are yet to be disclosed.

According to Nasim, Himu was accompanied to the hospital by her younger sister and another individual suspected to be her romantic partner. However, the latter disappeared when authorities were alerted for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing.

Himu's estranged brother, Mishir, revealed that the actress took her own life by hanging herself with a plastic rope attached to a ceiling fan in her flat in Sector 10 of Uttara. Mishir, present at the hospital, confirmed the details.

In a tragic revelation, Himu's estranged brother also reveals that a young man named Rufi, known to the actress, used to visit her house. Even on Thursday, at around 2pm, Rufi went to her house.

On Friday, the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) apprehended a man in connection with the untimely demise of the beloved actress from Dhaka's Bangshal area. The arrested individual was identified as Mohammad Ziauddin Alias Rufi, as confirmed by ASP Imran Khan of RAB Headquarters (Media Wing). Further details regarding the arrest will be provided in due course.

Born on November 23, 1985, in Lakshmipur district, Himu completed her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Ispahani College, followed by earning her honors and master's degrees from Eden Women's College in the capital.

Her illustrious career began in theatre, and she made her television debut with the 2006 drama "Chayabithi." Subsequently, she showcased her remarkable acting talents in numerous well-received drama serials, including "Housefull," "Gulshan Avenue," "Bari Bari Sari Sari," "Sonaghat," "Batighar," "Shonena Sey Shonena," "Chairman Bari," and more.

Himu marked her silver screen debut in the critically acclaimed film 'Amar Bondhu Rashed,' directed by renowned filmmaker Morshedul Islam, in 2011.
